What you've all been waiting for...

The film was interesting.

The music was good, but you can hardly be credited with that, the edits were nice and I liked some of the general angels you choose. The story was pretty good and slightly unique, the Mormons for example.

I did giggle at the jokes inside it, well a few of them, and might I add I didn?t realize the acting was shit, as the others did because I was spellbound but that magical accent, I loved the accent you, the main actor had, it was groovy, like ewan mcgregeor or something, rocks my socks.

I think the special effects were horrible, the lighting was inconsistent and often to dark, and the lightning was repetitive, something you have to avoid in special effects to give it a level or realism. The blood was generally alright except for the wall shoot, where I thought it looked more like shit then blood, perhaps use a spray, spraying blood looks more realistic in my opinion then clumpy blood, and use one of the internets blood recipes instead of your maple syrup version, it doesn?t look as realistic I don?t think.

The story was repetitive although I love the gaffer tape scene. I would have laughed watching the decapitated zombie crawl across the floor and find his head, then crawl to your workbench and find the gaffer tape, then somehow put his head on. Would have been funny as.

Ahh what the mind can do.

I didn?t enjoy the end at all, my brother walked in at the time so I didn?t hear much of the dialogue, just say some smoke and you walking through it, basically it was anti climatically for me.

I generally think it was pretty well done. Heaps of stuff that could be fixed, but generally it was ok, good job.

Sorry Untamed but I didn't enjoy it. I found it very boring in the middle. Quite a few of the shots lingered way too long (this exaggerates the dodgy acting, which you don't really want to do). I think if you got brutal with the editing, tightened the pace and hacked out some of the unneccessary scenes - you could improve it a lot.

I liked the shot when the Mormons arrive (nice touch with that trademark knock that they use too) with the white light and accompanying sound - made me laugh.

On the issue of music.

I don't see why it's a problem when a director uses music that existed before hand.

Professional filmmakers do it all the time.

And I believe that if a director does use pre-existing music, that it is still a creative choice - choosing the right music for the right scenes. That in itself can take up a lot of time and some people don't always have an ear for it.

And I'm not talking about just using "good" music in any scene, just because it's "good" music. It's about choosing something either because it's lyrics or melody or tone or rythym fits, or in some cases, is essential, to the scene.

Again, many many professional filmmakers do this.

And as far as it being stolen - used without permission - so what? That's a legal issue - it should have absolutely nothing to do with how the music is appreciated in the context of the scene and film and subsequent criticism.

Guerilla filmmakers break the law many times. Shooting without permits, on private property without permission, etc. And maybe you're late for filming one day, so you have to drive faster than the speed limit to get to the production on time.

Little Shop 86 is one of my favourite films ever, and certainly from a photographic POV it's had a huge influence on me (as has all of the work of the great Bob Paynter). The marriage of image and music in that musical will never be topped, IMO.

Well, I can't say I'm not disappointed to the reaction...

I think the whole "too dark" issue is to do with encoding the file on my mac... it looks fine on camera and DVD, but having actually watched the file it does appear to be fairly lacking in the visiblity department.

I also thought it was quite a zippy flick, in fact one of my first concerns when I watched it all the way through was that it too fast [img]tongue.gif[/img] I guess not.

Which scenes did you think were unnecessary?

Why was the shovel suddenly upstairs?!

Erm... the magic of movies? [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

All in all, mostly a tepid reception. But I appreciate your comments.

I agree, I realised, when I rewatched the film after deciding to become a filmmaker, it's a fantastic film from a technical standpoint, as well as just being an entertaining ride. And there's no way that it would be as amazing if it was made today.

Who said it was a problem? Copyright infringement is not theft.

I think it was a good choice of music and complimented the pace perfectly, however it's bad form to not give credit (unless I missed it?)

And remember kids, home taping is killing the industry!

The only reason I didn't credit the music in this version is because it's only a TEMP score... someone's working on music as we speak, it's just not finished yet...

but all in all,

Enjoyed it, as Eddie said a great waste of time, the attacking intestine i thought was great.

sometimes we all need a bit of cheese, and that was a fine piece of cheddar

I feel I've conquered my biggest audience when it showed at the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival. I thought it wouldn't go down well, but apparently it did, from the e-mails I got. Anything else after that is a bonus [img]cool.gif[/img] Maybe the best environment for this film to be seen is with a group of people in a dark room with loads of alcohol (like a fair percentage of the films I own), as opposed to a badly encoded video on a computer monitor.

Now it might be playing at another US based Lovecraftian film festival in April, assuming I can get an NTSC VHS out to them in time.
